This course equips participants with the essential skills and practical knowledge to carry out basic hard floor and horizontal surface cleaning safely and effectively in both residential and commercial environments.
Participants will learn how to handle common cleaning situations such as spillages, dirt, and debris, while following proper safety practices and industry-standard procedures. The focus is on building work-ready skills that can be applied immediately on the job.
Prepare for cleaning activities by assembling the correct tools, equipment, cleaning materials, PPE, and safety signages to ensure a safe and efficient work environment before starting surface maintenance tasks.
Hard Floor Surface Cleaning & Maintenance
Carry out routine hard floor cleaning tasks, including removal of spillages, dust, and debris, as well as mopping and mechanical cleaning where required, in accordance with standard workplace procedures.
Carpet Cleaning & Spill Management
Remove loose dirt, debris, spillages, and stains from carpeted surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
Work Area Reinstatement & Reporting
Reinstate the work area by collecting and disposing of waste, replenishing consumable supplies, and ensuring the area is safe for use. Identify and report any discrepancies or issues encountered during cleaning activities to the supervisor.

Entry Requirement
Minimum age: 18 years old or above
Able to speak, listen and read English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification Workplace Literacy Level (WPL) 1.
